The labels first billboard charting song came in 2012 produced by Fred Blaze Crawford, released on the soundtrack from the motion picture "A Beautiful Soul" starring Detrick Hadden. Under the mentorship of the late producer/saxophone player Oliver Sain producer of great singers as Fontella Bass, including Ike and Tina Turner's first producers and Producer, writer, and bass player Jimmy Hinds Mr. Ellis, begin his music  journey. From St. Louis to Chicago, landing at Chi-Town Records, where he  had the fortune of working with writer Gary Jackson best known as co-writer of the hit song "Your Love Is Lifting Me Higher," and was the home of the Chi-Lites and other great recording artist.

During his time in Chicago, He became guitarist for gospel singer and composer Calvin Bridges. During Mr. Ellis got the opportunity to perform in opening concerts for the late Walter Hawkins, who had just released his hit song "Going Up Yonder" As quoted by Darrell, It was an amazing experience. Some highlights of Mr. Elli's career have included producing and writing the 1997 screenplay "With Criminal Intent" starring Jorge Rivera and Jennifer Collin, meeting Sidney Portier, Micheal Landon "Little House on the Prieire", and Bill Cosby
